Beginning Bellydance
New to bellydance, curious about bellydance or looking for something new to try? This level is perfect for you if you’ve had under a year of experience, even no experience! Classes focus on the fundamentals of bellydance. We move at a slower pace suitable for brand new students, with lots of detailed breakdowns and repetition. Beginning Bellydance focuses on a handful of bellydance steps. You’ll learn: correct posture, what muscles to isolate, step names and how to dance them! Come ready for a mild workout! Yoga pants or similar suggested as warmup includes exercises on the floor.
If you have any questions big or small shoot me an email. Classes are drop-in friendly so you can start any time. Arrive to your very first class a few minutes early so you can fill out a registration form.
Intermediate Bellydance Technique
This class is all about technique. I teach the class at an intermediate level but I can challenge more advanced dancers with layering options. In this class we drill, a lot! My goal is to get your heart rate up and get you a little sweaty. We start with a vigorous warmup that I switch up every few weeks. I use a combo of Pilates, yoga and strength training to target muscles we, as bellydancers, want to develop. Next we focus on one or two specific drills to develop our hard skill set. This is usually challenging and a little frustrating but that’s how we grow! We may also drill across the floor to work on our stamina.
Next we dial it back a little and get moving with a short little combo or movement phrase that feels more like dancing and less like a drill. Class always ends with a little cool down and I tell ya how awesome you are. Like I said, this class is all about technique! If you are interested in the artistry and cultural aspects of bellydance check out the advanced topics class.
Want to come? Just come! No need to preregister but plan on showing up a few minutes early your first class to fill out a couple forms. If you have any questions, big or small, shoot me an email. Hope to see you in class!
Advanced Topics
The topics are advanced but you don't have to be! This class delves into the artistry and cultural aspects of bellydance. We cover lots of different topics, choreography, props, improvisation, live music, different styles and I plan on presenting guest teachers. This class will mostly be held in sessions, meaning it's not drop-in friendly and it's best to start at the beginning. However there will be some sessions that are okay to drop in to, best to check with me first, just shoot me an email. You can also check out my Facebook page to get more info on what the current or next session will be about. Some sessions will be very beginner friendly and other sessions will require at least a basic understanding of bellydance fundamentals. If you have any questions or want more info... email!
